All that can happen in a thousand days

About

portrait

In Thornton Wilder's Our Town, the second act begins with an account of births, deaths, agings and changes that have happened in "a thousand days" in Grover's Corners, an exercise in catching up or looking back at "ALL that can happen." What if instead of looking back, we look forward--forward to the process of living for the next thousand days? What's all that CAN happen?

I start graduate school in ten days, June 10, 2010, a program that lasts two years. What will the world--what will I--be like when that's complete? Can I grow into a "successful" writer in 730 days, or even a thousand? Can I discover/uncover health, balance, joy--love--in the next thousand days?

This "time capsule" is my commitment to those yet-to-be concretized goals. The proof will be in the sustaining. I'm always good at starting. It sounds so easy. Counting. Paying attention. I also know it's not.
